Process
1
Receiving
The tire retreading process first starts with the receiving of our customer’s tires. The tire is marked with a barcode to properly ensure the identity of each tire.
2
Initial Inspection
Next is initial inspection. Initial inspection is a manual process done by skilled Rubberman operators to identify injuries visible to the naked eye. If a tire casing is inspected to be clearly too injured, it is immediately rejected to ensure the safety and quality of our product.
3
Nail Hole Inspection
Next an electrical inspection machine uses electrical impulses to detect nails, nail holes, and punctures that are not visible to the naked eye. These injuries can be repaired later before they develop into serious problems that make the tire casing irreparable and not retreadable.
4
Shearography
The tire casing is then placed into a shearography machine. A shearography machine uses laser technology to further detect any flaws in the casing. After going through Rubberman’s rigorous selection standards, we can now decide whether the tire casing is fully eligible for retreading.
5
Buffing
Once the casing passes the screening process, a buffing machine inflates the tire to normal running shape and uses a rough brush to smooth out the surface of the tire casing removing the old tread rubber.
6
Skiving
A Rubberman operator then skillfully removes any damaged or rusted steel chords and applies rubber cement over the area. These damages repaired include bead damage, crown injury, shoulder and side wall injury, and side wall splits.
7
Building
A Rubberman operator then places the tire casing onto a special stand to adhere a pre-cured tread around the tire onto the cushion gum. The ends of the tread are then perfectly joined together.
8
Curing
The tire is now ready for curing. The enveloped tire is put into a curing chamber which applies heat and pressure to permanently fuse the cushion gum to the new tread.
9
Final Inspection
Finally the newly retreaded tire is inspected one last time to ensure that the correct processes have been followed and that Rubberman standards have been met. Notice how well the retreaded tire looks after the process. Ready to be shipped out back to our customer.
